Data for Development Course

Data for Development is an online, asynchronous course developed by the Pulte Institute for Global Development at the University of Notre Dame. The course allows learners in all roles to reach the level of proficiency required for them to properly engage with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) concepts and build a culture of data literacy across their organization, program, project, and within their own work. The overall objective of the Data for Development course is to promote a culture of evidence generation, analysis, and data use to contribute to the broader goal of improving development outcomes.

Data for Development is divided into three levels, each of which provides a higher level of mastery. Each level includes six to seven learning modules. Each module within the course levels is expected to take approximately 1-3 hours to complete. The levels are outlined below, and can be taken individually, or bundled together. We recommend that anyone taking the 2nd and 3rd level courses complete the preceding courses first. All levels provide a digital badge to certify completion, with a separate badge for completion of the full course sequence.
