The Pulte Institute provided a mid-term evaluation for a United States Department of Agriculture-funded Food For Education Program. Implemented by Catholic Relief Services, the program aimed to improve the literacy of school-aged children in Honduras. Teachers participating in the program received advanced training and were equipped with classroom supplies for all of their students. Parents were taught about the value of educating their children, and school directors were trained to obtain administrative and management skills. Health-related initiatives aimed to reduce absences and increase school attendance. The Pulte Institute used both qualitative and quantitative methods to conduct the mid-term evaluation, which included an Early Grade Reading Assessment. NDIGD’s findings demonstrated an improvement in most indicators. Most notably, an increase was observed in reading comprehension, particularly among the youngest participants.
