Fiscal Justice Program Manager at Oxfam

Media is a Fiscal Justice Program Manager at Oxfam in Indonesia. He holds his M.Sc and Ph.D from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. Media’s current work focuses on measuring progress towards “fiscal justice”, especially in mobilizing greater revenue, promoting progressive taxation and increasing spending for better public services. His previous research addresses the relationship between financial development and inequality, women's economic empowerment and developing models of small and medium enterprises' performance. His research has involved collaboration with several private sector organizations and government institutions. He often examines this field by analyzing large survey data, including data from long-running surveys, series and longitudinal studies, with the goal of producing convincing evidence for public policy decisions.

Media’s research at the Pulte Institute analyzes the redistributive impact of fiscal policy on inequality mainly to measure the degree to which income inequality is reduced or increased by the current execution of fiscal policy. The research would also be helpful for the stakeholders, both national and global, to answer the questions of what is an appropriate tax model and social protection programs that can tackle inequality and how future tax system could be made more inclusive.
