Nearly half of the adult population in Haiti is illiterate. In response, the University of Notre Dame’s Institute for Educational Initatives launched the "Read to Learn" project, an innovative literacy program. The program uses supportive lesson plans for teachers and students, and provides extensive teacher training. The Pulte Institute Monitoring and Evaluation Specialists are implementing a rigorous, randomized controlled trial to evaluate the overall progress made by students. With the information and data provided by the Pulte Institute, project implementers will be better prepared to strategically scale-up the project in future years.
