Algeria Higher Education Partnership

Through funding from the U.S. Department of State and facilitation through the U.S. Embassy in Algiers, the Pulte Institute for Global Development at the University of Notre Dame has partnered with Algeria's Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). This partnership will transform research and innovation in the north-African country. While higher education in Algeria is government-supported and fully subsidized, their research and higher education programs remain unranked, and largely invisible to regional and international audiences.

Through this partnership, the Pulte Institute and the Algerian MOHE intend to work together to improve outcomes as they relate to research capacity and visibility through the co-creation of a Research Hub. The program is two-fold: planned workshops and networking events will seek to engage academics and researchers with external networks in both the private and public sector, and a free online platform, created by program stakeholders, to which all Algerian faculty, university researchers, and research administrators will have access. By leveraging existing talent and knowledge in Algeria, and fostering the spirit of collaboration, the program moves to promote socio-economically viable innovation in the field of research for years to come.
