Predoctoral Research Associate

I'm Elideth, an economist from Mexico City. I have a B.A. in Economics (economic theory track) and an M.A. in Applied Economics, both from ITAM. My research interests are in education, labor, and cultural economics. My master's thesis, in visual and cultural economics, used computer vision on over 700,000 runway images to ask whether economic conditions leave a measurable imprint on what designers send down the runway. I've also worked with Mauricio Romero on education research. My toolkit is applied microeconometrics (panel data, fixed effects, causal inference with large datasets), and I work mainly in Python, R, and Stata. During my master's, I spent almost three years at Mastercard on the account and product management teams. Seeing the payments world from the inside made me start thinking about financial inclusion and what it takes for firms to grow. Outside of work, I love reading and cooking, and fun fact: I spent some time on my university's cheerleading team!
