Abigail Merolle

Predoctoral Research Associate

Abigail is a Predoctoral Research Fellow with the Pulte Institute for Global Development, where she is working closely with Learn Gala (https://www.learngala.com/), an open educational platform where users can develop and engage with learning modules. With Gala, Abigail’s research has been around drinking water utility infrastructure and building interdisciplinary and intersectoral relationships to collaboratively build learning modules for and with water professionals.

She holds a Master of Science from the University of Michigan’s School for the Environment and Sustainability where she specialized in Environmental Justice with a focus on hydrosocial systems. Her 16-month Master's Capstone was on wild rice restoration in partnership with the Sault Ste Marie Tribe in Michigan’s upper peninsula focused on exploring communities of practice for restoration across Great Lakes Tribes.

Her research focuses on climate justice, particularly as it relates to water infrastructure and community resilience. She is drawn to community-led, place-based approaches to environmental challenges, with an emphasis on care and equity.
