The Pulte Institute designed and implemented an impact evaluation to determine the most effective approaches in reducing child labor in Nepal by examining one such effort, UNICEF Nepal programming. UNICEF Nepal has implemented services and programs such as establishing a child helpline, creating temporary shelters, making counseling and referral to legal services available, and making formal, non-formal and vocational education services available. With 40% of Nepal’s population between the ages of 5 and 17 engaged in child labor, finding effective methods to reduce child labor is particularly pressing. The Pulte Institute is assessing the best way to address this complex socioeconomic issue.
