The Notre Dame Initiative for Global Development (NDIGD) will host the first-ever on campus Global Development Challenge on Monday, April 27th.
The event will provide students, staff, faculty, and those in the South Bend community the opportunity to participate and compete in fun, educational activities that relate to critical issues in global development. NDIGD works with Notre Dame faculty and students to help address interdisciplinary global development challenges around the world, and on April 27th (Notre Dame Day), NDIGD is connecting its work around the world to the campus community through 
these challenge events. Anyone can enter, and you can register by completing the online form and submitting the $10 registration fee.
A portion of the registration fee will go directly to supporting one of NDIGD’s projects, Connectivity, Electricity and Education for Entrepreneurship in Uganda.
The challenge takes only 30-60 minutes, and can be completed individually or as a team anytime between 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. on April 27th. Events will be centrally located on campus. Challenge stations this year include:
· Clean Water Challenge: H2Go! How far and fast can you haul water?
· Security Challenge: Keep the Peace Collect data to measure violence vs peace
· Education Challenge: Book it A scavenger hunt in the Hesburgh
· Economic Challenge: Dollar A Day “Buy food” on a developing country’s daily budget
· Geography Challenge: Where in the World? Test your wayfinding skills
· Global Health Challenge: Nothing But Nets How many rimless freethrows, layups, and 3-point shots can you make in 3 minutes?
Contestants can register either individually or in teams of 4 to complete the challenges. Student dorms from across campus will compete against each other in the challenge.
Each completed task earns participants a “passport stamp” with their scores being recorded for the chance to win prizes. The grand prize for the winning team is their choice of a dinner or a 3-on-3 basketball game with NDIGD celebrity
spokesperson Ruth Riley. The top scored individual will receive a $50 Visa gift card, and the dorm with the top score will win an ice cream social.

NDIGD is an integral component of the new Keough School of Global Affairs and the Office of Research as a multidisciplinary enterprise on the Notre Dame campus that leverages the University’s signature strengths to promote development and human dignity to people in need worldwide. NDIGD helps develop solution-oriented research focused on rigorous, data-driven impact evaluation and assessment; design and planning of development projects; and training.
