Opening Reception for Notre Dame's 2019 Mandela Washington Fellows

-

Location: The Forum, Jenkins Nanovic Halls, University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN 46556, USA (View on map.nd.edu)

The Notre Dame Initiative for Global Development (NDIGD)—an integral part of the new Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame—invites you to join us in welcoming 25 new, young African business leaders to our community for six weeks this summer.

These young people—14 women and 11 men—will travel from Sub-Saharan Africa to participate in the 2019 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, with funding provided by the U.S. Government, and administered nationally by IREX. NDIGD has administered the Fellowship at Notre Dame since 2014 and graduated 125 Fellows from the program.

This year's Fellows come from 17 countries, including: Angola, Botswana, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Ghana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. We will be able to share the 2019 Fellows' names and biographies closer to the date of the event.

While here, the Fellows will take part in a rigorous Leadership in Business Institute; make dozens of site visits and network with hundreds of individuals across Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois; and complete several service learning projects. For more information about the program, visit ndigd.nd.edu/MWF.

We hope that you will be able to join us in welcoming these visionary leaders to campus and the greater community! The following individuals will welcome the Fellows to campus on behalf of the University, and introduce them individually:

This event is free and open to faculty, staff, and students at Notre Dame, Holy Cross, and St. Mary's, as well as members of the Michiana community. Guests and families are welcome.

Heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served. See a map with Jenkins Nanovic Halls and nearby visitor parking lots highlighted at ntrda.me/2W1SyVW.
